No Surprise Act Policy

At Wounds Plus, we are committed to ensuring our patients receive transparent and fair billing practices in accordance with the No Surprise Act (NSA), effective January 1, 2022. The NSA is designed to protect consumers from unexpected medical bills for emergency, post-emergency stabilization, and certain non-emergency services provided by out-of-network providers at in-network facilities.

Protections Under the No Surprise Act:

• Emergency Services: We will not bill patients for out-of-network emergency services, regardless of whether the services are provided with or without prior authorization. Patients will not incur higher out-of-network charges for emergency services.

• Non-Emergency Services: For certain non-emergency services provided by out-of-network providers at an in-network facility, we will not charge patients more than the in-network rate. This includes charges from supplemental services (such as anesthesiology or radiology).

• Good Faith Estimates for Uninsured or Self-Pay Patients: If you do not have health insurance or opt to self-pay, Wounds Plus will provide you with a good-faith estimate for the cost of services before scheduling. This estimate will be a detailed itemized list of services and charges.

  • You will receive an explanation of the estimate and may request a copy.

  • If your actual bill exceeds the good-faith estimate by more than $400, you have the right to dispute the charge through a third-party arbitration process.

Key Exclusions:

• Emergency services.

• Urgent medical care provided during non-emergency services.

• Certain diagnostic services such as radiology and lab tests.

• Services by an out-of-network provider when no in-network provider is available in the facility.
